Hartwood Elementary School, nestled in southwestern Stafford County, is the school divisions most rural school and reflects a diverse population, K-5. The special programs and activities available at Hartwood make it a truly unique learning experience.

Hartwood is the only elementary school in the county offering two different formats of classroom organization for Kindergarten and first grade. In addition to standard Kindergarten and first grade classes , there are Primary 1 multi-aged classes in which approximately half of the class is composed of kindergarten students and half is first grade. Parents have their choice of enrolling their child in either a standard or a multi-aged classroom.

Hartwood Beliefs

All children can learn and have the right to be successful.

We all learn uniquely.  We should honor and celebrate our unique learning styles.

It is up to us as adults to find the right keys and tools to use in assisting children in finding success.

Learning takes place best in an atmosphere of mutual respect and courtesy. As adults, we should model these behaviors in our dealings with students, with each other, and with the parents and community members in such a way that the children will want to imitate us.

Our Mission at Hartwood is to challenge each child to reach his or her potential and to encourage the skills needed for lifelong learning and productive social interactions, thus laying the foundation for being an active contributing citizen.

VISION STATEMENT

In order to achieve the mission of Hartwood Elementary School, we envision a Hartwood learning community of faculty, staff, parents, and students working together to achieve the goals and objectives of the school.
